Savage Hippie Podcast Episode 65 – In the Words of Steve King, I Don’t Have to Answer That!

Sorry for the delay and the fact that the stuff we talk about is two weeks old. Rachel, Elya, and I compare AOC with Ilhan Omar, and talk about our tax returns, that crazy black guy that threw the kid from the four story balcony of the Mall of America, and kids getting in trouble at schools for wearing MAGA shit. And, of course, we answer some questions. Man, I’m lazy.

For Sounds of Marshabaloosh, we have the song “Karma Is Coming” from the album Time Is Made of Gold, the latest album from Bedouin, one of former Hawkwind bassist Alan Davey’s many fine bands. Check it out here.

Shannon Bowman did the artwork, and the song at the end is “The Diet Has Failed” by the Yesticles.

Savage Hippie Podcast Episode 63 – If I Knew Then How Much I’d Value Intelligence Less Than Looks…

Too much news, too little time. In spite being recorded merely DAYS ago, we’re ALREADY behind, what with Michael Avenatti getting indicted and Jussie Smollett getting his charges dropped with possible connections to Barack Obama and his husband Michelle. Instead Elya, Rachel, and I discuss the New Zealand church shooter, the Mueller report and its exoneration of President Trump, Beto O’Rourke’s relative coolness, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s oldness, the last of which would seem like a rather passe and rote topic by this point, except that Sam Adams decided to RELEASE A BEER IN HER HONOR. That’s right, a Ruth Bader Ginsburg themed BEER. We also answer listener questions.

Oh, and I go off on the admins of Joe Bob Briggs FB group, because they’re totally gay for throwing me out for doing what Joe Bob does, which is crack crude jokes. But, hey, that’s what happens when you let women and their white knight enablers run a group; all of a sudden things become “problematic.” I see Troma and Feral House books getting corrupted in much the same way, with younger, progressive female employees deeming older works in both companies’ libraries “problematic” and having them expunged.

For Sounds of Marshabaloosh, we play a tune by Beto O’Rourke’s 90s indie rock band Foss, who basically sound like a poor man’s Superchunk crossed with a poor man’s Slint. Check ’em out here.

Shannon Bowman did the hip, skiddly-doo artwork, and the song at the end is “The Diet Has Failed” by the Yesticles.

Savage Hippie Podcast Episode 61 – First They Ignore, Then They Laugh at You, Then They Fight You, Then They FUCK You!

As my favorite racist Gandhi said, first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, and then you win. Well, let’s be honest here; the Dissenter app from GAB is INSANE. It allows you to comment on anything on the internet. And, sure, right now it’s in its gestation phase; but wait until there are copycat Dissenter apps, and they allow you to add graphics, sound, and videos. The internet will be like the wild west again. And that’s why I’m torn with regards to Silicon Valley tech censorship; do I want the government to step in and bust up the monopolies of Facebook and Youtube, or do I want the anarchists to create apps, which will circumvent all of the deplatforming that’s been going on and reinforce that free market spirit? Tough questions indeed.

Anyway, Elya, Rachel, and I also discuss the new Captain Marvel movie, and thanks to viewer questions, we go on a long tirade bashing nu-metal. We also address the Andrew Yang phenomenon, something that I personally don’t have very much interest in. All that talk about “acceleration” works well in your parents’ basement, but if you’ve got bills to pay, and you DON’T want your life to suck, maybe, JUST maybe, you should stick with the current President and try to guide him in the right direction. First step is to pressure him to sign executive orders to end DACA and birthright citizenship. Aaaanyway…

For Sounds of Marshabaloosh, I present a song from the new Nik Turner album, The Final Frontier (I wish he chose a title that wasn’t already taken by Iron Maiden), called “Calling the Egyptians.” With Nik Turner, along with anything Hawkwind, it’s always a first day or pre-order purchase. And, yes, it’s cool that Beto O’Rourke used the screen name “Psychedelic Warlord.” Listen to “Calling the Egyptians” here.

The artwork was done by Shannon Bowman, and the song at the end is “The Diet Has Failed” by the Yesticles.

Savage Hippie Podcast Episode 60 – More Like Lords of GAYos If You Ask Me!

Rachel, Elya, and I talk about the Lords of Chaos movie, which if the title isn’t a dead giveaway, I thought sucked ass. Then we talk about the recent John Wayne controversy. And then in the second half, we answer listener questions.

For Sounds of Marshabaloosh, we play a “Nekromantia” by Horna, both because I’ve been listening to a lot of black metal lately, and because I’m seeing ’em live on March 30th. Woot!

Rachel did the artwork, and the song at the end is “The Diet Has Failed” by the Yesticles.

Savage Hippie Podcast Episode 59 – He, She, Ze, or Pee?

Thanks to the fact that Rachel worked on movies on two consecutive Saturdays in a row, our schedule got all screwed up, forcing us to record this a couple Wednesday ago; and as is the usual Savage Hippie m.o., the stuff we talk about is once again antiquated. I mean, seriously, we’re talking about whether Trump SHOULD sign the budget proposal, which has already been signed and has now divided Trump’s base between the “God emperor Trump can do no wrong” MAGA people and the “well, he signed an amnesty deal. Bye-bye, USA!” people.

On the plus side, Rachel, Elya, and I discuss other stuff, such as how bitches be crazy and flaky, lhan Omar’s comments about AIPAC, the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez documentary on netflix, and the rogues gallery of the 2020 Democratic contenders.

We also answer listener questions from the two listeners who asked us questions. Note, we ALREADY have ANOTHER episode in the tank, and I’m hoping THAT comes out before the news cycle renders the topics we talk about obsolete.

For Sounds of Marshabaloosh, in honor of Grammy awards, who awarded High on Fire with best hard rock/heavy metal performance in spite not actually knowing what they sound like, I play “Rumors of War” from the High on Fire album Death Is This Communion from 2007.

Rachel did the art, and the song at the end is the “The Diet Has Failed” by the Yesticles.

Savage Hippie Podcast Episode 58 – C-SPAN? More Like See SKIN if You Ask ME!

The Superbowl? President Trump’s State of the Union? Judge Ginsburg’s “beating” cancer? NONE of that gets discussed in this week’s Savage Hippie. Making sure to be slightly BEHIND the curve, talking about things that lost their relevance a week ago, Edwin Oslan, Elya Oslan, and Rachel Cohen-Bourne cover Ralph Northam’s black face and KKK shenanigans, Black Panther getting nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, the “learn to code” meme, some story about some girl who is suing Kid Rock over alleged discrimination at his bar in Detroit, and Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sss(X)in(X)em(X)a wearing her slutty attire on the Senate floor… yep, we discuss ALL of that, right at the point when everyone else is DONE discussing it. We also discuss D.W. Griffith and Birth of a Nation, since nobody is EVER done discussing that!

And for Sounds of Marshabaloosh, we play “Free Hand” by obscure 70s prog greats, Gentle Giant. Hopefully the don’t sue.

The song at the end is “The Diet Has Failed” by the Yesticles, and Rachel did the art while staring at a midget who curiously looks exactly like her.

Savage Hippie Podcast Episode 57 – Fooled by a Fridge Fixin’ Injun

As if you hadn’t heard enough about the standoff between the Catholic Kid and the drum beatin’ Indian, Edwin Oslan, Rachel Cohen-Bourne, and new addition Elya Oslan (Edwin’s brother, in case ya couldna guess), continue to beat the dead horse into horse paste by actually flashing back to a week earlier, where we give our immediate, ignint, duped by the mainstream media reactions, and THEN correct ourselves a week later. Isn’t that clever?

But that’s not ALL we talk about! Nope, we also throw in New York’s new ‘bortion law, Trump’s opening the government back up, the controversy surrounding the new Ghostbusters movie, my recent obsession with Michael Moorcock’s Elric saga, Rachel’s rock star dad, and our love for prog rock. Rachel also further elaborates on her near death experience at the hands of an ectopic pregnancy, and we do our best imitations of whiny New Yawk Jooz.

For this week’s Sounds of Marshabaloosh, we give ya a song from the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, the God of Hellfire, who I saw this past Friday with Jex Thoth, Ruby the Hatchet, and Sleepy Sun. The song is called “Muscle of Love” (NOT the Alice Cooper song) and is from Arthur Brown’s latest album Zim Zam Zim.

The song at the end is of course “The Diet Has Failed” by the Yesticles, and Rachel did the brilliant photoshop art.
